About April’s “Sustainable Profile”
The Sustainable Profile (SP) initiative is April’s approach to building long-term, equitable relationships with producers. Rather than focusing solely on micro- and nano-lots, April collaborates with producers to purchase larger volumes of coffee, creating more consistent income for farmers and offering customers the ability to enjoy the same coffee year-round.
April engages in open and honest conversations with producers, always allowing them to set their own price. From there, April evaluates the coffee against their quality standards. Importantly, they never pressure their partners into lowering prices to meet buyer demands.
Since launching this initiative, April has scaled from purchasing 50 bags in the first year to 200 bags in the 2020 season—a testament to the program’s success and integrity.
